Fall Family Photo Shoot: Outfit Ideas

by - сентября 23, 2019

One of the questions I get all the time from the clients before a family photo session is: “What do we wear?” Especially for the fall photo shoot - colors outside are just stunning, so you obviously want to look great as well! Outfitting your family to look cohesive in a portrait can be a difficult task and a hard work, but it doesn't have to be, so don’t panic! Here's a few tips I’ve found online and put together to inspire you to create your own ensemble. Hope it helps!

Remember, we coordinate, and don’t match. It used to be a thing – everyone would wear the exact same outfit: think jeans and a white t-shirt. Well, it's not that cool anymore (but still way better than letters and logos). So choose a color scheme – mix and match colors so that everyone flows and coordinates. My personal favorites for now - maroon, gold and navy.

Start with one piece and build! When you don’t know what colors or look you want to choose for a photo shoot, choose one piece and build around it. For example, if you have an amazing blue dress that you look fabulous in, wear it! Just add some touches of print and coordinating hues in your family members’ outfits to tie everyone together. Also, think about incorporating cardigans and vests so that they can be taken off for a different look!

Layers create visual interest and will keep you warm and cozy while we’re outside playing in the leaves. Think tights, cardigans (again), blazers, and scarves. Pieces like burlap suspenders or a flowery headband for the kids will take your ensemble to the next level of cute. Think dahlia wreath for the shooting in September and yellow leaf wreath for October shooting. And don't forget about the sunflowers!
