by - ноября 10, 2020

With Christmas just around the corner, you may be thinking about getting a great updated family portrait (even taken by me, if you're lucky :).  And what better time to do it! Christmas is such a beautiful season! My favorite  look for Christmas is always classic reds, greens, and whites, yet it’s easy to go cheesy fast. How can you dress your family to not look like they are in an ugly Christmas sweater contest? Here are some family outfit ideas I've found online. Please feel free to google as well - you never know where the inspiration will come from!

The Reds – The traditional look for Christmas photos! I always recommend that my clients don’t wear bright or bold colors (like red) for their session due to them not photographing well. But this berry/burgundy red has a earthy look that photographs beautifully.

The Greens – Another traditional Christmas color but less used for photos, so if you had use Red for previous Christmas card why not changing up a bit this year with this beautiful green jewel tones?

The Metallic Creams – Every Holiday season needs a little bit of sparkles and glam. This beautiful soft cream tones are perfect and photograph beautifully. A classic look that is a little different from the norm!

Many men prefer dressing simply and casually in everyday life. But it would look boring at a Christmas photo session. So, it’s time to make men look a bit like a hipster: sweater, beard, overcoat. Scarves. Complementary colours are a must.

If you’re wanting your family Christmas cards to have a traditional, timeless holiday look, then you simply can’t go wrong with matching plaid patterns.

Because aren’t we all dreaming of a white Christmas? Create the neutral snowy color palette of your dreams by making white or off-white the primarily color in your family holiday photos. When selecting white as the primary color for your family looks, you can easily mix in a variety of prints and textures.

Nothing evokes the feel of the holidays like cozy, chunky knits. If you want a family Christmas card that spells warm and cozy, coordinated knit sweaters and layers are the perfect option. From knit sweaters and  sweater dresses to scarves, knit beanies, and even mittens, the more the better. Just be sure your color palette makes sense.

Matching Family Christmas Pajamas - this is another family Christmas photo idea that’s perfect for when you want holiday cards that are casual and cozy. You can find matching family Christmas pajamas practically anywhere right now, at every price range. Many even include options for the dogs and cats in your family. You can shop some of my favorite family Christmas pajamas below. Even if your pajamas aren’t entirely matching, if they’re both in the same general palette, they will totally work!

If you’re wanting to switch it up from the traditional Christmas colors for your holiday card, consider a soft and dreamy pastel palette. Put the girls and little boys in tones of blush pink or lilac dresses and button ups. For men and big boys, stick to light blue and neutral tones like white and kaki. You’ll love the way your candy-coated pastel cards stand out from all the rest.

So there you have it! Lots of ideas ideas on what to wear for your family Christmas photos this year. I hope you found some holiday photo inspiration that might work for your family!

P.S. I've got three gorgeous hand made dresses for the moms this year - please ask in advance should you want to wear one or two. They're super elegant and beautiful, you're gonna look stunning on those pics!
